From Storytelling to a Movement
Ama Duncan’s goal to become an author started in 2015 and has now grown into a thriving community platform. The FWN, which has its roots in real-life narratives and draws inspiration from the experiences of regular women, has grown to be a major force in the advancement of leadership and business among women and youth. As of right now, we have trained and impacted over 8,000 women through our events, mentored and trained 400 youth in underprivileged communities, and magnified hundreds of tales around Africa.
Commemorating Ten Years
We commemorated the FWN@10 celebrations with iFAB – International Fabulous Women’s Conference. The 4-day event started with:
- Women Leaders Retreat – A time for rest, deep reflection, and sisterhood. Our facilitators were Mary Asante-Asamoah, Anna Fordjour and Ps. Annette Dei.
- Youth Mentoring Day – A visit to Asiwa in the Ashanti Region, which became a powerful moment of inspiring the next generation through coaching and shared wisdom.
- Cultural Day – Visits to the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site and the Kumasi Cultural Centre followed by vibrant cultural display by a cultural troop representing various tribes in Ghana at FabHub Ashanti, an official and residential space for the Fabulous Woman Network. The experience was rich with dynamic dance performances, captivating storytelling, and untold histories of our motherland.
- 10th Anniversary Awards and Gala Night – A radiant evening of storytelling, recognition, and legacy-building.
A Night to Remember
During our 10th Anniversary Awards and Fundraising Gala at Golden Bean Hotel, Kumasi, 10 amazing, audacious and ambitious women in Kumasi were honored with the Fab Women of Influence Awards. They are: Mrs. Kate Williams, Rev. Dr. Mrs. Esi Oduro Asante, Hon. Elizabeth Agyemang, Mrs. Mercy Ampofo, Mrs. Cecilia Akosua Agyei Oteng-Amoako, Mrs. Abena Akuamoah Boateng, Mrs. Theodocia Jackson, Professor Mrs. Pearl Dzogbefia, Mrs. Janet Gyimah-Kesse and Nana Yaa Asantewaa II. The Fab Women of Influence Awards were given to ten outstanding women in recognition of their leadership and devoted service.
Finally, we launched the book!
On the same evening, The Fabulous Woman Book Vol. 1: Wawa Aba, a comprehensive compilation of strong women who have transformed hardship into meaning, was unveiled.
Introducing Vision 2030: The Fab Village Model
Perhaps the most striking moment came with the reveal of Vision 2030, anchored by the Fab Village Model—The FWN’s ambitious roadmap to reach over a million women and youth across Africa. As a living embodiment of healing, empowerment, and sustainability, the Fab Village will offer serene tiny homes in nature, built as havens for learning, mentorship, and growth.
Our Founder, Ama Duncan shared, “We envision a place that breathes life into dreams. These tiny houses won’t just shelter growth, they’ll fund it. Owned by investors who believe in our mission, these homes will create income, stay within the community, and be managed by our very own trained women and youth. Currently our hub has created employment for 10 women and youth. Fab Village will create employment for hundreds more.”
Voices of Impact
The night echoed with powerful testimonies. Emmanuella Acheampong, a 2018 alumna of the Fab Women Entrepreneurs Skills Training, recalled how a dollar payment from Ama Duncan changed her life. Today, she runs successful businesses and manages multiple bank accounts.
Fab Youth Camp graduate Ruth Naami shared how The FWN’s equipped her with skills, provided her with a laptop, and opened the door to education at the Kumasi Institute of Tropical Agriculture.
And from Dora Naana Addotey of the FabCEO Mastermind came a heartfelt tribute to the unbreakable sisterhood she found in the network.
Looking Ahead
From a humble online blog to a continental beacon of transformation, The Fabulous Woman Network continues to shine brightly. With Vision 2030 lighting the path, our next chapter promises even more audacious impact.
As Ama Duncan confidently declared, “The next 10 years will be even more fabulous.”
